The mandate of Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC) is to support the health and well-being of the community by providing opportunities for all persons to participate in arts, culture, recreation, and sport. Through the PRC Grant Program Collingwood-based organizations (not-for-profit, charitable, or volunteer-based) can apply for Financial and In-Kind Grants to support their programs and services that support the PRC mandate. 

•    Financial Grants
$1500 grants – 19 proposed, 13 awarded
$5000 grants – 6 proposed, 7 awarded
Total allotted for the year is $58,500

•    In-Kind Grants
Waiving of rental fees for Parks and PRC facilities, up to a maximum value of $5000. Total allotted for the year is $35,000

Grant Criteria
–    Intergenerational Programs: Encourages all ages to participate together
–    Active Aging: Fosters health & well-being in older adults, in particular those facing barriers to healthy living
–    Youth Involvement: Engages youth in “behind-the-scenes” opportunities and offers skill building roles to support and empower
–    “Learn to” Programs: Hands-on opportunities. Embraces a philosophy of active learning and doing rather than passive spectating
–    Local and Live Music: Promotes and features Collingwood’s local music creators
–    Cultural Innovation: Imaginative, unique or transformative project
–    Collaboration: Fosters relationships and cooperation among groups or events

For the 2023 CRCG program, applications were received via online submission between December 21st, 2022 and February 10th, 2023.

Two information sessions were held in mid January for potential applicants to learn more about the Grant program.

In-Kind Facility Grant requests were evaluated by staff and Financial Grant requests were evaluated by a team of three community members assembled for this purpose, selected from an open call for volunteers.
