Statement from the Office Of the Mayor Regarding Small Plane Crash In Collingwood

As many residents may already be aware, a small plane crashed in a farm field on Raglan Street yesterday afternoon in an emergency landing. The pilot (and lone occupant) sustained minor injuries but was taken to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital by paramedics.

A huge thank you to Marcus Vogel, the pilot of a helicopter who was flying in the area and heard the plane pilot’s mayday on the radio and came quickly to his rescue. Thank you also to the members of the Collingwood Fire Department, Simcoe County paramedics and the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for their quick action to aid the pilot and secure the area.

Mayor Yvonne Hamlin
