Emergency Preparedness Week is May 7 – 13, 2023. Are you and your family prepared in case of emergency?
The theme for Emergency Preparedness Week 2023 is “Be Prepared. Know Your Risks.” Do you know what to do in a tornado, flood, or winter storm? The Ministry of the Solicitor General has tools and resources to walk you through knowing the risks and how to be better prepared.
The Town of Collingwood is currently ranked #2 in the province for municipalities with a population of 5000-50,000 for residents using the online tool and submitting their personal Emergency Action Plans. “I think its fantastic Collingwood residents are getting better prepared in case of an emergency, says Fire Chief Dan Thurman. “We are seeing more natural disasters occur and have witnessed firsthand what can happen when residents are not prepared.”
“The Town has its own Emergency Plan to protect residents, businesses, and visitors, to ensure a coordinated emergency response, however residents need to play their part too. I encourage all Collingwood residents to educate themselves on the risks of various emergencies that could very well happen in Collingwood and prepare a personal plan today.”
